Après Home and Garden is not a thrift store or an antique store, although some of our products are antiques. Après offers you used vintage and handmade products that we have carefully selected and crafted.
We take care and pride in artfully displaying our products to help you see their potential and how they might work in your home and garden.
Pricing: Unlike a store that sells new items, vintage shop owners can't simply attend a buying show or place inventory orders online. We are out "in the wild" hitting estate sales, yard sales, auctions and thrift shops to find treasures that still have a useful life. Many of the items you will find at après are from our personal collection.
Often we spend hours researching, cleaning and repairing our inventory before it is ready to sell to you. We aim to offer pricing that fits a variety of budgets but unlike a thrift shop or yard sale, our pricing reflects our cost to source and purchase our inventory and the work we have put into preparing items for sale.
We spend the time necessary to research and understand the current value of our items and always try to price lower than popular online sites like eBay and Etsy. Once in a while we stumble upon a very unique or hard to find item. They fall into our "very special" category and may have a higher price tag - we think they are worth it.
Thrift stores sell secondhand clothes and household goods, typically to raise funds for a charitable organization. Most thrift stores acquire their inventory from donations. Pricing is usually lower than vintage shops and antique stores but due to the recent popularity of second hand shopping, many thrift stores have raised their prices. In some cases, pricing at après may be lower than a thrift store.
As the name implies, antique shops offer items at least 100 years old. These shops are often carefully curated with knowledgeable owners who can offer their expertise and answer questions about the history of their items. Due to their age, antiques usually demand a higher price tag.
