Long before working in the ski industry, Dan and Kelly were lovers of second hand. They grew up in families that regularly searched out yard sales and auctions and it stuck.

What started out as a love of old stuff and saving money has morphed into a desire to share the option of reusing instead of discarding items that still have purpose and beauty.

Opening a vintage shop has been in the back of Kelly's mind for decades and that daydream became possible, this year, when she retired from the ski business to move closer to family.

Meaning: after
Après Home and Garden was registered in 2015 when Kelly was making ski themed pillows and signs for a local ski area. And yes, choosing all lowercase for the brand was intentional because it is a little less formal. And if you know Kelly and Dan, you know they prefer laid-back.

With the ski biz in their blood, the name après was selected as a nod to the "after ski" tradition of heading to the bar for some fun off the slopes.

Kelly always had the idea of a vintage shop bouncing around in her head so it is fitting that "after" her ski career, she is giving small business ownership a try.
